Why hire a bookkeeper

Often when starting out, we try to do everything ourselves in order to save some money along the way as we build our business up. However wearing several hats (marketing, sales, accounting, etc) can get exhausting and lead to burn out and frustration.

As your business grows, you might be thinking of starting to outsource some tasks that you either don't enjoy, or just aren't that good at. Bookkeeping is definitely one of the those thing that is probably better to outsource, and the sooner the better!

Bookkeeping is an integral part of business and whilst software companies want the end user to believe that "it's just so easy", without having some accounting knowledge, you could be making costly mistakes in the back end of your accounts that you may not even quite understand... but your Accountant sure will! And if they are the ones having to fix your errors, it will most certainly cost a lot more than if you had of just hired a Bookkeeper from the start.

Also, with literally now thousands of add on apps on the market which you can use along side your Accounting software, this also adds to the confusion of how to set it all up correctly so you aren't missing income or expenses and under or over paying your GST and Tax obligations. If these apps are not integrated correctly, it can quickly become very costly to fix.

Bookkeepers generally have more frequent access and visibility to your business financials, than say your Accountant. Keeping everything up to date so you can get a accurate insight into how your business is going.

Most of all, Bookkeepers should save you time so you can focus on running your business and doing the things you love.
